Sacrifice not required

I’m watching this program on PBS about the ancient peoples of Teotihuacan – and they talked about both animal and human being sacrificed to their gods. The fact that these poor creatures and humans were sacrificed was bad enough, but that many were buried alive to slowly starve to death is heartbreaking.

Setting aside man’s continual inhumanity to man and creatures alike in the name of religion that continues today –

I am grateful that the God I love and serve and worship does not require blood sacrifice. All He requires of me is to show up, and to love and worship Him.  Nothing else. His Love for me and my love for Him. That is the foundation on which I am building my life.

Today I am grateful for. . .

Today I am grateful for

  • the close to 16 years of love my mom’s cat Frankie brought to our lives. He and his 4 brothers and mom were left on our porch back in 2010 and as a family, mom, my sister and I took them all in. We’ll never know who abandoned them on our porch that night so long ago, but we will be eternally grateful for their callousness and generosity for at least leaving them on the door step of cat lovers.

Frankie Eternal Love

  • one beautifully sunny day sandwiched in between many rainy ones.

in the light

  • 5 days of blissful freedom of not having to work. Yea! for paid vacation days.

  • the fragrance of blooming flowers wafting through open windows which leads me to think of the Love of God.

Today I am grateful for:

  1. A roof over my head, food in the fridge and gas in my car.
  2. A quiet day at work that allows silent reflection on my life.
  3. That I am Reminded the God is good to me when I have some unsettling news. He reminds me I am on His Time, in His Hands and surrounded by His Love.
  4. The sometimes annoying attention of my cats. They remind me to climb outside my self and my downward trending thoughts and tend to their needs.
